Week IV: Tailgating at Heinz Field for Bengals Game

Week Four:
The front line of fans arrives at 6:00 AM. Even then you might be fourth in line for parking. Whether you start your day with coffee or beer, it's a good day when the Steelers are at Heinz Field and you have a prime parking spot. The lots open at 8:00 AM and once you're in there's nothing but tailgating for the next 5 hours. For those who don't wander, I recommend walking the parking lots and saying hi to your fellow tailgaters. Many groups have been in the same spot for decades. The prepaid lots have moved many true fans farther away, but the community still sticks together in "the ghetto." If by chance you are one of the "nooners" who shows up with your parking pass just moments before kickoff then you're missing half the experience. The hospitality out there is warming. And that's comforting as winter nears.
